Hospital Bag Essentials

When you are 9 months pregnant, packing for the hospital can seem like a daunting, anxiety ridden task. So we took the approach of heading out for a weekend of comfort and relaxation. Cause hey let's face it. . . hospitals are a far cry from the spa! Fill the room with fresh cuts, light a candle, play your favorite tunes, and slip into something comfortable. . . With a little imagination and a few things from home, we know that we can transform any space into a peaceful haven for mama and baby to get to know eachother.

seeing spots + triangles

if you have been following us on our other ventures before this, you may remember us talking about wallsbymur and how obsessed we are! well the obsession continues... this time with polka dots and triangles!! incase you haven't heard about them. wallsbymur is a company that makes amazing wall decals. not your run of the mill- sayings- on- a- wall decal but simple little patterns that can be placed in hundreds of different ways and in great color options! we highly recommend them for home owners but even more for people who are renting. it's a great alternative to doing something permanent, that you will just have to paint over when you leave- and you can take them with you if you are careful since they are reuseable!!! best part-  if you are ADD with your decor like us you just take em down and put em somewhere else! basically.... love.

pot of gold

with summer in full effect we have been spending a lot of time outside... which means a lot of time planting! {hey its pretty cheap and keeps the kiddos occupied..}theres something about a cute little succulent in a terracotta pot that just does it for us. and no its not just because they are hard to kill {everyone with a black thumb say aye} honestly we love them in white pots but we've seen that before so we wanted a little flash on a simple idea. so we sprayed the base of the pots with a little gold spray paint and it seemed to do just the trick. they still look clean and simple with a little something extra.

calling all tooth fairies

In honor of {SHARK WEEK} we thought a little shark tooth DIY was totally necessary!! We can't wait to play tooth fairy to our quickly growing tots (tear) so we need to be prepared for when that first tooth comes loose!! We created these rad little bags for them using some recycled fabric, felt, and good luck charms!!

STEP 1: Cut your shark tooth out of felt. Then cut your fabric into a 3.5" x 8" rectangle + fold in half. I like to keep the fold at the bottom to eliminate a seam!

STEP 2: Stitch your shark tooth onto the center of the top half of the fabric.

STEP 3: Lay your fabric with the right side on the table. Fold over each of the 2 long ends to about 1 or 1-1/2 inches and make a crease. You can pin these if you’d like and remove the pins as you sew, or you can simply watch the line and keep it folded on the crease as you sew. Sew on the cut edge of the fabric, creating a pocket  for where your string will go. Sew both sides.
STEP 4: Once both sides are sew with their folds, fold the fabric in half with the right side in. You’ll now want to sew up the 2 sides of the fabric in just one straight line. But DON’T sew over the holes of the folded edge part you just sewed. STOP before you get across these. You need these both open to get your string through.
STEP 5: Turn your bag to the right side out. You should have 4 sewn lines –
2 folded over sewn lines for the string and 2 sewn lines to make the bag.
STEP 6: Cut your string, about 12 inches, depending on how large your bag is,
and attach a safety pin to it.
STEP 7: With your safety pin as a guide, thread your string through the holes in the bag. Go through one side and continue on to the other side. Take off the safety pin and tie the two ends together.
Now you can cinch up your bag, add some good luck charms, and it’s ready for some fun treasures!
